In a new paper led by Mara Elephant Project’s Director of Research and Conservation Dr. Jake Wall, new research has found that while elephants can live almost anywhere in Africa, their range is restricted by the growing human footprint and the available protected areas. What is the value of protecting Biodiversity?
“Biodiversity is an all-encompassing term for what many regard as nature-related risk. It includes the food we eat, the soil, clean water supplies, landscapes, and forests. Nature-related risk affects all those who rely on nature’s services in their supply chains, from fashion, to farming and construction. Today our concern is climate risk; tomorrow it will be about biodiversity and everything that is beyond carbon.” cr. Andrew Mitchell
Co-Founder, Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Founder of Global Canopy and CEO of Equilibrium Futures

For the full month of December 2020, we ran a Go Fund Me for Mara Elephant Project to assist them in providing for an additional 10 rangers in the Masaai Mara, Loita region, in Kenya. We are so pleased to say we exceeded our goal of $3,000 to reach $3,250.
We would like to thank everyone for their thoughtful donations and support during a very difficult year for so many conservation organizations that suffered from a lack of tourism and funding due to the pandemic. By contributing to our GFM your donations to the Mara Elephant Project has enabled them to hire the additional rangers that they so desperately need.
We thank you again for your generosity and kindness.
The numbers are staggering as we learn that humanity is responsible for a decrease in animal populations worldwide of 68% in the past 50 years. The biggest issues facing the global community today are losses to biodiversity. Loss of wildlife affects ecosystems we all rely on to keep us healthy. Learn more about how elephants help preserve our natural world and why poaching, human-elephant conflict, and illegal trade is related to our own survival.
Tune in and get inspired to save elephants!
