Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Elephanatics Foundation is dedicated to championing elephants. Formed in May 2012 (incorporated 2015), we structure our mission around Conservation, Education, and Action (CEA).
Our Purpose is Pachyderms!
🐘 Our Mission and Ethical Commitments
Elephanatics Foundation is a small, volunteer-run non-profit society. We operate using high ethical standards maintaining accountability, transparency, and trust to ensure every action maximizes our impact across the globe on behalf of elephants and the community in which they live.
| Impact Area | Elephanatics’ Commitment Statement | Practical Evidence |
| 1. Governance (Ethics, Accountability, Transparency) | “We maintain a structured governance system where the Board of Directors serves as the highest body of accountability, prioritizing mission impact over any organizational self-interest.” | Formalizing all major decisions through documented minutes and votes by the 5 Directors; mandating regular internal financial review of the Treasurer’s records by at least one other Director; maintaining a strict policy against conflicts of interest. |
| 2. Workers (Team Wellbeing & Equity) | “We recognize that our mission is entirely powered by volunteer dedication, and we foster an inclusive and supportive culture that maximizes the efficacy and value of every team member’s time and expertise.” | Implementing policies that ensure diversity in board/volunteer recruitment; covering essential operational costs/expenses for mission-critical tasks; publicly recognizing the essential role and impact of all volunteers. |
| 3. Environment (Reducing footprint, Stewardship) | “We are dedicated to being a net-positive force for the planet by focusing our elephant conservation education on the preservation of wildlife and biodiversity, recognizing that healthy ecosystems are intrinsically linked to climate stability.” | Driving educational content that demonstrates how elephants act as ecosystem engineers; maintaining a low-footprint virtual operational model; advocating for policy that reduces environmental crime and climate risk (like the UNTOC Protocol). |
| 4. Community (Economic/Social Contribution) | “We build strong, equitable relationships with our global community partners, ensuring resources directly support local, on-the-ground change.” | Partnering directly with African-led conservation groups (like Mara Elephant Project) to ensure financial benefit flows to local employment/anti-poaching teams; involving local community voices in educational content. |
| 5.Stakeholders (Ethical Focus & Impact of Service) | “We empower our educational stakeholders (teachers and students) with free, curriculum-aligned tools to drive measurable civic action and literacy.” | Providing free, accessible toolkits and the Virtual Ranger Program (high-value service); ensuring all education promotes the ethics of coexistence and conservation science. |
